Honoured and humbled to be 1 of 11 recipients of the NTU Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Most of the work I do is behind-the-scenes-esque and not things I can post about. This recognition is a shot in the arm.

I was asked post award ceremony how university made me the person I am today. It was a big question, and my answer didn’t encapsulate my thoughts as well as I had hoped. (I blame this on being asked this question JUST when I was about to run out after receiving a message saying that pohpiah had awoken from his nap crying, hungry, and not taking the bottle.) my here is my answer:

Uni gave me the room to grow. My community of professors and course mates were kind and nurturing. I studied sport science and management -a degree I could so greatly relate to and apply to my daily life training and competing. And the daily commutes to NTU and training, as well as the madness of sitting for exam papers before and after competing at SEA Games instilled discipline and resourcefulness. Uni, and the people I met there, helped me grow into the person I am today; and I am forever grateful.
